The weekend is finally here, but choosing what to watch can be more complicated than expected. Between new films, newly released seasons and TV series that continue to be added to the platforms' catalogues, the risk is that we spend more time looking for something than actually enjoying it.

This weekend, however, there is no shortage of interesting alternatives. There is space for those who love psychological thrillers, for those who want to catch up on a great series, for fans of the Marvel universe and even for those who prefer to spend the evening in front of a story inspired by true events.

We at HeartVerse.it we have selected eight titles for the weekend of 17 and 18 October 2026, trying to satisfy different tastes and indicating where to find them. They are not all absolute debuts of the weekend: some arrived in the last few days, others deserve to be recovered.

The Diplomat 4: one of the most intriguing political series returns to Netflix

Where to see it: Netflix — Fourth season, 8 episodes available.

If you love stories built around secrets, power plays, and alliances that can change at a moment's notice, The Diplomat is a great choice. The fourth season, arrived on Netflix on October 15th, reports Keri Russell in the role of Kate Wyler, US ambassador called to manage increasingly delicate diplomatic crises.

The situation is also complicated on a personal level. The relationship between Kate and her husband Hal continues to intertwine with the balance of power in the White House, while President Grace Penn becomes an increasingly central figure. Every decision risks having consequences that go far beyond the protagonists, it is a series to choose if you are looking for a political drama in which the dialogues, the tensions between the characters and the strategies matter as much as the events.

With all eight episodes of the new season already available, the weekend can become the perfect opportunity for a marathon, also because some scenes of the last episodes were filmed in Italy, among the evocative locations of Tuscany, with Lucca chosen as the setting for an important international summit.

The Trap: the Netflix psychological thriller that starts from a disturbing suspicion

Where to see it: Netflix — Miniseries of 6 episodes.

What if, after ten years, you seem to recognize the murderer of a loved one on television? It is from this question that The Trap takes shape, German miniseries arrived on Netflix on October 13th, based on the novel by Melanie Raabe.

The protagonist Lisa Konrad is a writer who lives isolated from the world after the murder of her sister. When he believes he has finally identified the person responsible, he decides to lure him into his home, transforming it into the site of a confrontation that could prove extremely dangerous.

The premise is simple, but offers several ideasi: how much can we trust our memories And what happens when the desire to know the truth becomes an obsession? If you are looking for a thriller full of suspicions, tension and psychological games, The Trap it is one of the most suitable proposals at the weekend.

Carrie: Stephen King's horror film returns to Prime Video with a new series

Where to see it: Prime Video — 8 episodes available.

October is the perfect month to catch up on horror and Carrie, the new series based on Stephen King's famous novel, arrives at just the right time. The project bears the signature of Mike Flanagan, already known for productions such as The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass.

VisionQuest: the new Marvel series on Disney brings Vision back to the center of the story

Dove vederla: Disney+ — Primi 2 episodi disponibili.

Masterplan: on Prime Video Stanley Tucci prepares the coup of the century

Dove vederlo: Prime Video — Film, 1 ora e 49 minuti.

Tenzing: on Apple TV a true story that takes you to the top of Everest

Hollywood Arts: the Victorious universe returns to Netflix

The cases of Teresa Battaglia 3: the Italian thriller to watch for free on RaiPlay

What to choose for this weekend? HeartVerse advice
